The original tensioner was too short and allowed the chain to become slack which would then rub and clatter against the guides. The majority of Crank bolts are Torque to Yield (TTY) which once fitted; they are tightened close to their elastic limit. This means they are stretched and can only be used the once, if these bolts are re-used the bolt can snap and the chance of failure is greatly increased causing extensive damage to the engine.
